About the Author

Christopher Wren

Christopher Wren holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences and has published and lectured extensively in that field. As a young boy he was fascinated by the photographs his father had kept from the Second World War while in the RAF in North Africa. Like most veterans his father spoke little of the war, and it was not until he read his father’s journals that he came to appreciate what his father “had seen and done” during the war.  In 2019 Chris took passage on a container ship across the Atlantic Ocean from Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Liverpool, England, to retrace the convoy route that his father took 80 years earlier. He visited the National Archives in Kew, United Kingdom, on several occasions to conduct background research for this book. Chris was raised in Guelph, Ontario, and now lives in in the country near Markdale, Ontario. He continues to research his family history, is an avid outdoorsman and participates in local community volunteer groups.
